Western Illinois Video Deploys the Myrio IP Video Platform to Eight Independent Operating Companies

Myrio Continues to Lead Industry in IP Video Platform Deployments

Bothell, Wash. - Myrio Corporation, a leading provider of IP video software and services, today announced that eight Independent Operating Companies (IOC), collectively known as Western Illinois Video, have deployed the Myrio® IP Video Platform. Myrio’s flexible and scalable solution enables Oneida Communications, LaHarpe, Mid Century, New Windsor, Reynolds, Viola, McDonough, and Woodhull to offer a triple-play bundle with advanced digital video services.

Established in January 2004, Western Illinois Video (WIV) is a consortium of eight Illinois based telephone companies and cooperatives committed to efficiently roll-out and offer advanced services to subscribers. By deploying the Myrio IP Video Platform, WIV is able to offer services such as video on demand (VOD), digital television, and web portal services. The Myrio IP Video Platform is built entirely on an extensible and customizable Java architecture, allowing the group of IOCs to deploy video services on various access providers equipment including Advanced Fiber Communications (AFCI), Net to Net Technologies, and Paradyne Networks Inc. (PDYN). WIV IOCs provide communication services to more than 10,000 homes and will be able to scale their video services to support all of their subscriber base.

“The flexible and scalable Myrio IP Video Platform has made it cost effective and easy for WIV IOCs to deploy video services and remain competitive,” said Dave Olson, managing partner, Oneida Communications. “Myrio’s extensive integration experience and relationships with numerous access providers over the past five years has enabled Oneida and the other WIV IOCs to deploy video services within months. Myrio’s platform enables us to reduce deployment costs while creating new revenue opportunities.”

The Myrio IP Video Platform is Java-based, which is the ideal development and deployment platform for an emerging class of interactive services and applications such as video. The flexibility of Myrio’s platform to operate across large network and various hardware environments allows WIV to select best of breed technologies while reducing deployment time. Commercially deployed by more broadband providers than any other solution, the Myrio IP Video Platform is a critical component to increase revenue and reduce operating costs for IOCs and cooperative telephone companies.

“Consortiums like WIV provide IOCs the opportunity to efficiently deploy advanced services to subscribers, crucial for independent operators in today’s competitive environment.” said Roger Shanafelt, Myrio’s vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. “Myrio continues to lead the industry in IP video deployments by providing operators of all sizes with the most proven, flexible and scalable solution available to maximize operations as well as differentiate their services from competitors.”
