Myrio Announces Availability of New Product Release, Enhancing Leading IP Video Solution
New features and enhancements improve user experience and maximize the cost performance of operators’ video deployments
Atlanta, Ga. - Myrio Corporation, the leading provider of software, content and integration services which enable broadband operators to offer advanced IPTV services, announced it is releasing new products and services, designed to enhance revenue, while reducing the cost and complexity of video deployments. Myrio will make these new products and services available to its growing list of
commercially deployed customers beginning July 8, 2003.
Myrio’s new products include the industry’s first comprehensive content on-demand (xOD) managed service—The Myrio Content Management Service (mCMS). mCMS is unlike any offering in the market today, addressing all aspects of the content lifecycle—from licensing and rights management to transport, billing, reporting and settlement. mCMS is the solution for broadband operators who wish to deploy xOD to their subscribers.
mCMS provides more than basic metadata handling found in competing products.
- Content Licensing/Rights Management – An industry first! Operators deploying the Myrio solution have access to over 400 hours per month of first-run and classic
movies, sports, children’s and other special interest content. mCMS handles the rights management issues without requiring operator intervention. Operators can effectively compete with VOD offerings from cable competitors.
- Content Transport – Myrio has a long-standing partnership with TVN Entertainment to securely deliver content to mCMS customers via IP multicast over satellite at a significantly lower cost than competing solutions.
- Content Management/Reporting – By utilizing mCMS’s Internet-based content ordering system, operators can select the video content they wish to offer and those selections are automatically transferred to the VOD server for subscriber rental and viewing. Operators can log in to their unique web portal to retrieve reports on monthly subscriber rental trends or create unique reports to ascertain the effectiveness of their xOD offering. mCMS will reduce OP EX by a substantial monthly amount over “competitive” offerings.
- Integration – mCMS currently supports VOD servers from nCube, Kasenna and Myrio’s traditional IP
based deployments as well as the recently announced VOD solution with NextLevel Communications. Myrio’s years of content experience with over ten (10) commercially deployed video systems ensures interoperability, directly lowering both capital and operational expenditures.
Myrio’s software enhancements were developed to meet the needs of Myrio’s commercial customers to maximize the value of their video deployments. The new features were designed to address specific revenue generating and cost reducing requirements. “The race to IP video is not about simply adding new features,” said Eddie Drake, vice president of software development at Myrio. “It’s about understanding an operator’s needs and delivering the right product. Because our customers are commercially deployed, they provide us with real world input for our product development. At this
stage in the market, improving the cost efficiency of their video deployments is paramount to them.”
Myrio Interactive™ is a market-proven software solution delivering the features subscribers want, and the cost performance operators demand.
- Caller ID – Onscreen caller ID notifies user of an incoming phone call. This is a very popular feature, which has proven to increase overall caller ID penetration.
- Pause Live TV – This allows the viewer to pause any TV program for up to 60 minutes with one touch of the universal remote, and resume play when the user chooses. This feature allows operators to offer digital recording
- Pay Per View – Support of both All Day Movie Ticket and single view events such as feature
movies, concerts, sporting events and other programming, increases revenue opportunities.
- Digital Music – On-screen Title, Track and Artist information reduces subscriber churn.
- Favorites and Reminders – Powerful and convenient TV enhancements give subscribers more control of their viewing experience.
- Customizable Walled Garden – Combined with compelling Myrio-provided content, operators are able to add locally created content and e-commerce through the Myrio Interactive T-Commerce SDK to generate additional
revenue and provide a feature that cable and satellite can’t match.
Myrio’s TotalManage™ enhancements improve scalability, performance and reliability while reducing costs.
- Automatic Provisioning and Remote Management of STB’s – Operators can significantly reduce truck rolls and more effectively manage deployed assets.
- Highly Available Architecture (HAA) – Operators can now deploy TotalManage on the Oracle™ 9i Suite (Oracle 9iAS and 9i Database) for true 99.9999% reliability and fault
tolerance. TotalManage is the only 100% J2EE compliant IPTV back-office solution. J2EE compliance provides for easy integration into existing OSS/BSS systems.
- EAS/Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) – Powerful enhancement to Myrio’s unique IP based Emergency Alert System (EAS) reduces headend cost and complexity.
- Multicast Messaging Framework (MMF) - A standards based multicast data communication channel, reducing network congestion and increasing scalability.
