Minnesota Home Developer First in State to Launch Myrio IP Video Solution Over Fiber-to-the-Home Network

FTTH Communications announces commercial availability of digital video to home owners at community open house

Kirkland, Wash. - Myrio Corporation, the leading provider of software and integration services that enable broadband service providers to offer Digital TV, VOD, and other advanced entertainment services, announced today that Fiber To The Home Communications (FTTH) will become the first provider in Minnesota to offer Myrio’s Internet Protocol (IP) video solution to their homeowners beginning in April. FTTH has planned a community open house on April 12th to launch the new services to existing and potential homeowners.

FTTH, a Minneapolis area Integrated Communications Provider, developed and operates a fiber-to-the-home network within each of it’s parent company’s three master planned communities. The network allows FTTH to offer the “Triple Play” of services – voice, video and data. FTTH selected Myrio to provide the video solution in January of 2003, and will make it available to all the homes within FTTH’s developments, which will total over 2,600 homes when complete.

The FTTH deployment marks Myrio’s 10th commercial deployment of its video solutions, and its first installation with Sweden-based i3 micro technology (www.i3micro.com). i3’s Mood set-top box combines performance and value in a powerful, compact design (just 11.25”x5.43”x1.34”), allowing Myrio to run its full suite of software applications. Priced significantly lower than other “PC-style” set-top boxes, the Mood Box provides subscribers a small, appealing package without sacrificing performance.

Myrio’s video solution also offers FTTH homeowners a competitive alternative to cable and satellite. FTTH can provide the added convenience of combining Myrio’s video with voice and data services in one monthly bill. “Myrio’s software and services enabled us to complete our suite of services and offer our homeowners a package that the competition cannot match,” said John Schultz, general manager of FTTH.

“More and more home builders and developers are laying fiber networks within their developments,” said Chris Coles, president and CEO of Myrio. “FTTH’s deployment is an excellent example of the opportunity that builders have to generate additional revenue sources, and differentiate themselves by offering advanced services such as video over their networks. We look forward to continuing our support of FTTH and other developers who are uniquely providing their residents with Myrio’s advanced entertainment services.”
