Myrio Unveils Latest IP Video Platform for Broadband Service Providers to Differentiate and Localize Service Offerings

-- Version 3.5 enhances subscriber control over the digital entertainment experience with integrated Personal Video Recording --

TelcoTV, Orlando - Myrio Corporation, a leading provider of IP video software and services, today announced commercial availability of Version 3.5 of the Myrio® IP Video Platform. The latest release equips broadband service providers with new features that further integrate and differentiate their service offerings, while enhancing the subscriber digital entertainment experience with new features, including PVR (personal video recording), enhanced content security, and multiple language support.

Myrio IP Video Platform 3.5 improves upon both of Myrio’s market leading products - Myrio® TotalManage, the back-office subscriber and content-management application, and Myrio® Interactive, the full-featured end-user application. Belgacom, the leading telecommunications company in Belgium, is the first carrier to deploy the integrated solution to power its Interactive Digital Television (iDTV) service.

“The industry is witnessing global interest in IP video deployment,” said Chris Coles, president and CEO of Myrio. “It is critical for us to offer broadband service providers with a proven IP video platform that addresses subscriber convenience and control needs such as PVR, video on demand (VOD), Digital Television, Web browsing, Content Security, and Multiple Language Support. We continue to enhance our solutions to provide our customers with more choice and the end user a more personalized experience.”

Myrio TotalManage:
Myrio TotalManage is the most commercially deployed IP video back-office application in the world. It is a feature rich and easy to use application that enables broadband service providers with provisioning and management, content management, channel packaging, transaction processing, billing and data collection.

Myrio TotalManage continues to build upon its operational efficiency features and further reduces the total cost of ownership and time to market through the following feature enhancements:
  • Real-time Business Management Reporting – Provides the operator the ability to track subscriber viewing habits in order to develop targeted marketing and packaging offerings to their customer base, maximizing ROI.

  • Billing Transaction File Generation – The ability to retrieve transaction based billing information at any interval during a billing cycle. This enhancement also simplifies Myrio TotalManage and billing system integration.

  • Enhanced Content Security – Securing content from the headend to the STB is critical for operators to secure rights to premium content. Myrio TotalManage now supports an open API for integration with leading Digital Rights Management (DRM), Encryption, and Conditional Access (CA) vendors.
Myrio Interactive:
Myrio Interactive is an end-user software application for set-top boxes that enables subscribers to watch Digital TV, order a movie, listen to digital music, check the weather, and browse the Web through their televisions. Myrio Interactive 3.5 provides the consumer with greater choice, convenience and control with feature enhancements that include:

  • Client Personal Video Recorder – Provides subscribers with more control over their television by enabling them to schedule and record programs for later playback. The feature also allows the operator to enable the ability of “watch one” program and record another”

  • Multiple Language Support – Supports the display of the Myrio Interactive application in multiple languages, which enables service providers to further differentiate and localize their service offerings versus traditional video providers. Localization modules are available for a number of languages.

  • Active Format Descriptor for Wide Screen display (16:9) – Provides the ability in the Myrio Interactive client for auto-detection of wide-screen signaling and for the subscriber to override the display setting on supported set-top boxes.

  • Web and Walled Garden Enhancements – Improvements to the Web experience through support of DHTML, browse history, persistent cookie management and bookmarks. As well as web proxy server support to provide an additional level of conditional access and security to operators upon implementation of the Myrio IP video platform.

  • Additional PIN Control – Subscribers can create a separate PIN for service settings, such as parental controls, and purchases like VOD and pay-per-view.

Myrio's 3.5 product release provides a new support and development framework for leading vendors, such as Conax, Irdeto Access, Latens, Nagravision, NDS, Philips, Secure Media, Verimatrix, and Widevine Technologies, to easily integrate with the Myrio IP Video Platform.

“ Broadband service providers are realizing that there are great opportunities for additional revenue in offering video over copper wire and fiber in the future,” said Michelle Abraham, senior analyst, In-Stat/MDR. “However, in order to succeed, they need to differentiate their services through local content, VOD, PVR, and interactive TV. It is critical for leading middleware companies like Myrio to continue to introduce IP video platforms that are flexible and cost-effective in order to meet this need.”

“ Version 3.5 of the Myrio IP Video Platform continues to take full advantage of Java technology to offer broadband service providers with the most robust IP video platform and the flexibility of vendor choice,” said Ryan Petty, Myrio’s vice president of product management. “Building upon an open technology like Java enables a rich ecosystem of third party ISVs to enhance the Myrio platform—something you don’t see with closed, single-vendor solutions. In addition, the breadth of industry support for the Myrio platform provides operators the ability to choose between multiple vendors for set-top boxes, content security, VOD servers, head-end encoders, and access platforms without being restricted to a single vendor is the crux of the Myrio value proposition. This level of choice is not possible with any other solution on the market today. Version 3.5 is available to more than 50 of our customers who, combined, provide services to over 35 million subscribers.”
