Myrio V2.0 Software Provides Flexible Solution for BTexact Technologies’ Broadband Home and Office Demonstration

KIRKLAND, WA - Myrio Corporation, a provider of IPTV software and services today announced the successful integration of its open-standards based V2.0 software with multiple digital video head-ends, VDSL network platforms and set-top boxes (STB) into a ‘broadband home and office’ demonstration housed at Adastral Park, home of BTexact Technologies, BT’s advanced research and technology business.

Myrio’s software solution allows operators to choose technology providers best fitting their business requirements, while dramatically reducing complex integration cycles.

“Businesses like BTexact Technologies can choose or recommend virtually any combination of suppliers needed to deliver and manage end-to-end video over IP services,” said Charles Jablonski, Myrio president and CEO. “Myrio’s solution removes the artificial dependencies often present in middleware designs. BTexact’s broadband home and office demonstration presented Myrio with an opportunity to prove its performance in a multi-vendor environment.”

“Myrio’s client and management software solutions were a key component in uniting a diverse network,” said Don Clarke, BTexact’s head of VDSL development. “Myrio’s professional services played a significant role in leveraging an extremely short integration process. As more operators recognize the revenue and subscriber retention possibilities available within their copper infrastructure, they will increasingly employ flexible solutions like Myrio.”

According to Clarke, BTexact Technologies has developed a world-class capability to integrate TV-based services across an ADSL and VDSL infrastructure. BTexact determined that an effective way to consolidate its expertise would be to install numerous content sources feeding multiple network platforms from different vendors with content destined for an assortment of consumer hardware such as STB’s and PCs. BTexact and Myrio demonstrated this by delivering content from two sources of digital TV, from one video on demand server, and from the Internet. All content was delivered across three different VDSL platforms to both thin and thick client STB’s. The entire installation, including integration with all hardware vendors, was completed within a 10-week period.

With multiple commercial deployments in US independent telephone companies and upcoming fiber-to-the-home installations, Myrio proves operators can profitably deliver digital TV, on-demand content, high-speed Internet access and other advanced services regardless of equipment supplier preference.

“Integrating multiple technologies is a complex task. Myrio could never accomplish such an undertaking without strong partner relations,” noted Jablonski. “The Myrio architecture provides the foundation for working relationships resulting in successful demonstrations such as that we have just completed with BTexact.”
